Senegalese lawmakers have adopted a report recommending the removal of parliamentary immunity for Moustapha Diop, a former minister implicated in an alleged embezzlement scandal.
Diop is accused of involvement in the misappropriation of 700 million CFA francs from the Agency for the Development and Promotion of Industrial Sites (APROSI). The request to lift his immunity was made by the Financial Judicial Pool investigating the case.
Meanwhile, Tabaski Ngom, APROSI’s former accounting officer, has been placed in custody, while the agency’s ex-director general, Momath Ba, remains under judicial supervision after posting a 90 million CFA francs bail.
The decision paves the way for legal proceedings against Diop, raising further questions about accountability in Senegal’s political and financial institutions.
