Senegal inaugurates world’s largest purpose-built hospital ship, the Global Mercy

The world's largest civilian hospital ship, the Global Mercy was Monday inaugurated in the Senegalese capital Dakar; the vessel which arrived last week was formally received by Senegalese President Macky Sall in a ceremony that was attended by the president of Guinea-Bissau Umaro Sissoco Embalo and President of Comoros Azali Assouman. 

The ship that will stay 4 weeks in the country intends to participate in the training of 260 Senegalese health professionals, alongside the crew of the Africa Mercy ship, which has been in the port of Dakar since February performing surgery on board.
