In Senegal, members of the National Assembly are set to interpret the controversial Amnesty Law during today’s parliamentary session, April 2, 2025.
However, twenty Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) are urging lawmakers to engage in broader consultations with key stakeholders before proceeding. The CSOs argue that the current law fails to serve the best interests of citizens and does not provide justice for victims of atrocities committed between 2021 and 2024.
At a press conference on Tuesday, the CSOs emphasized the need for adherence to six key principles to ensure justice and fairness.
