The Manso enclave in the Ashanti region of Ghana is noted for Gold mining. However, another extractive activity has crept into area with adverse effects; Sand winning. The indiscriminate venture which has become popular among residents and foreigners, many of them Chinese nationals is gradually destroying the environment, replacing farm lands and leaving indigenes worse off.
