Reporters Without Borders (RSF) has condemned U.S. President Donald Trump’s decision to suspend Voice of America (VOA), the country’s oldest international broadcaster.
The suspension, which took effect last Saturday, affects over 1,300 employees and has halted multiple programs across 47 languages, cutting off millions of listeners and viewers worldwide.
RSF’s representative for West and Central Africa, Sadibou Marong, denounced the move, calling it a major blow to press freedom.
Critics argue that the decision undermines global access to independent journalism and weakens the U.S.’s commitment to free speech.
