President Bola Ahmed Tinubu of Nigeria delivered a national address on day 5 of the End Bad Governance nationwide protest that rages on in several parts of the country by young people demanding good governance, an end to corruption, better economic reforms and improved security.
However, since the start of the demonstrations on Thursday, August 1, 2024, at least 13 people have been killed.
Properties belonging to the government and private individuals were vandalized, looted and others razed to the ground.
The northwestern states of Kano, Jigawa, Katsina, and Sokoto recorded more violence arising from confrontations between security operatives and protesters.
Abuja, the nation’s capital and adjourning states of Niger, Nassarawa and Kaduna reported mild confrontations and destruction of properties.
These developments formed the core of President Tinubu’s 21 minutes.
The Nigerian leader explained the reasons behind the drastic policies and reforms instituted by his government and some of their impacts on giving Nigeria, Financial Freedom.
Tinubu in his address called on the protesters to suspend the demonstrations and meet on a roundtable to avoid further destruction and loss of lives while promising a better tomorrow.
