Unknown gunmen in the volatile northeast region of Nigeria on Thursday attacked a tertiary institution in Kebbi state.

During the raid, a police officer was killed and one student critically wounded while five academic staff were abducted by the gunmen. The authorities are yet to ascertain the exact number of students taken.

This is first of such incident in the state.
