Côte d’Ivoire’s main opposition party, the PDCI, will officially select its presidential candidate on April 16.
The announcement followed the party’s 18th political bureau meeting held over the weekend in Abidjan.
Notably absent was PDCI President Tidjane Thiam, raising eyebrows among some party members ahead of the crucial vote.
The decision sets the stage for what is expected to be a competitive race ahead of the October election.
