General Brice Clotaire Oligui Nguema has promised to govern for all citizens following his overwhelming win in Gabon’s presidential election, where he secured 90.35% of the vote.
With a turnout of 70.4%, more than 575,000 votes went to Nguema. His closest challenger, former Prime Minister Alain Claude Bilie By Nze, received just over 3%. The Constitutional Court is yet to validate the results.
Nguema, in his first address after the Interior Ministry released the provisional results, lauded the voter turnout and thanked citizens for their “exemplary mobilization.”
He called for unity, dialogue, and collective action, urging Gabonese people to set aside political divisions and work together for the country’s future.
