Nominations for the National Assembly elections in the Gambia have commenced ahead of parliamentary elections in April.

Former ruling Alliance for Patriotic, Reorientation and Construction APRC was among the first parties to file nomination papers for their aspirants.

Eighteen political parties and independents will battle for the 53 available seats across the country.
