The Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities (SSANU) has issued a threat to carry out a nationwide protest on Tuesday, July 9, 2024, which could result in the shutdown of major activities in the country.

This action is in response to the four months’ salary arrears owed to their members, for which SSANU and the Non-Academic Staff Union of Educational and Associated Institutions (NASU) have been in discussions with the Federal Government.

In the past, SSANU had carried out a warning strike, and recently gave the government a two-week ultimatum to address their demands.

The union is alleging that the Federal Government has failed to fulfill promises and is now threatening to disrupt activities on campuses nationwide if their demands are not met.

Mohammed Ibrahim, the President of the Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities, disclosed this information on Friday.
