Nigeria’s Inspector-General of Police has ordered a massive deployment of additional police operatives and operational assets within the capital, Abuja and its environs to solidify the security and protection of lives and property of its residents.

This also includes the protection of critical national assets and vulnerable facilities as well as road users plying routes in and around the Federal Capital Territory.

The deployment is not unconnected with reports that terrorists are planning to carry out attacks on the city.
