Banjul this week welcomed a contingent of the Nigerian Army to The Gambia for a ‘peacekeeping’ mission.
According to the military authorities, the deployment of the 197 officers is part of Nigeria’s contribution to maintaining peace and security in the ECOWAS member State.
This comes after a six-week pre-employment training as recommended by the UN Core Pre-Deployment Training Modules.
WADR’s Sankulleh Janko reports that this is not Nigeria’s first deployment to the country since the launch of ECOMIG in 2017.
