The United Nations Resident Coordinator in Nigeria Edward Kallon, has condemned attacks against civilians in Nigeria and urges all actors on the ground to respect international laws and humanity.
In a statement on Sunday, Kallon said he was outraged and horrified by the gruesome attack against civilians carried out by non-state armed groups in villages near Borno State capital Maiduguri.
There are conflicting figures on casualities.
The UN in its statement on the incident said at least, 110 civilians were ruthlessly killed and many others were wounded in this attack.
The UN says it received reports that several women may have been kidnapped. It calls for their immediate release and return to safety.
