Nigeria lawmakers have begun probing companies alleged to be responsible for the importation of toxic petrol into the country.
This is sequel to a request by the lawmakers, mandating the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation to provide the names of the companies to its committee for investigation.
Chairman of the House Committee on Petroleum Resources (Downstream) handling the probe, Abdullahi Gaya, at the session, said the probe will help ascertain the circumstances of the importation of the toxic fuel and evolve measures to forestall future occurrence.
