Search and rescue efforts continued throughout the night for survivors of a high-rise building collapse in the Nigerian city of Lagos.

The 21-storey luxury apartment building under construction in an upscale area of the country’s largest city, collapsed on Monday afternoon.

The Lagos State Emergency Management Agency said it had activated its emergency response plan, while investigations into the cause of the collapse are ongoing.

Meanwhile, the National emergency management Agency (NEMA) says the owners of the building are missing, however reports that they are trapped in the building are unconfirmed.

Ibrahim Farinyole is spokesperson of the Agency, he has been speaking to Channels Television.
