Nigeria’s Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, has ordered a probe into Amnesty International’s allegations of police misconduct during the August 2024 #EndBadGovernance protests.

Amnesty’s 34-page report claims police actions led to 24 protester deaths and the detention of 1,200 minors, mainly in northern Nigeria. The investigation aims to address these serious accusations and ensure accountability.
