The Nigeria Electricity Regulatory Commission NERC has commenced a review of its dual plans for mass metering, and is considering three options for an optimal outcome.

On Wednesday, the commission requested citizens to submit suggestions on the best path to solving the nation’s electricity metering problem.

Already, advocacy groups have expressed outrage over the exclusion of over 100 million electricity consumers from the national grid, with concerns that past metering systems have been exploitive and inefficient.
