In a move aimed at addressing rising concerns over public morality, the authorities in Niamey, Niger, have issued a decree to establish a “morality squad.” This new initiative comes in response to growing visibility of issues such as minor-related offenses and prostitution on the streets of Niamey.
The squad’s primary objective is to curb these social issues and restore public order, reflecting the authorities’ desire to tackle what they view as excesses impacting the community. The formation of this squad underscores the local government’s commitment to improving social norms and ensuring a safer environment for citizens.
