In the Gambia, the National Assembly’s Standing Committee on Human Rights and Constitutional Matters has called for fast-track trials for prisoners who have been detained for up to one year
The committee also called for prisoners who are remanded for more than fourteen years should have their cases reviewed and concluded within six months
It says detention facilities should be fit for purpose, as per domestic and international rules and standards.
