AU delegation arrives in Chad

In Chad, dozens of demonstrators arrested during Tuesday’s violent protest in– the capital were on Thursday brought before the N’Djamena high court.

They were conveyed by law enforcement vehicles from the police stations in the various districts of the capital.

Meanwhile, an African Union delegation has arrived in the Country faced with uncertainties since the death of the longtime leader – Idriss Deby Itno and the subsequent takeover by the military.

Since Deby’s son – General Mahamat Idriss Deby assumed the number one position, opposition parties and civil society groups have called for the dissolution of the government – citing a constitutional breach.

The AU delegation now in Chad, has a mission to Investigate and unravel the circumstances surrounding the power shift and make recommendations.
