Burkina Faso denies social media reports indicating possible deployment of foreign troops

Burkina Faso have denied social media reports indicating possible deployment of a contingent of 2,000 foreign soldiers to support the fight against terrorism within the framework of the Accra Initiative.

The Government formally denies these allegations in a press release where it strongly maintains that there was never any question of deploying foreign troops on Burkinabe soil.

The Government reassures citizens that the authorities of the Transition are convinced of the capacity of the people of Burkina Faso, in collaboration with the Defense and Security Forces as well as the Volunteers for the Defense of the Fatherland, to take up the historic challenge of the restoration of the integrity of the national territory.

However, the Transitional Government reaffirms its attachment to sub-regional cooperation as well as to any effort to seek concerted solutions to the security crisis in our common space.
