Business booms as Togo reopens border with Ghana

Brisk business along border communities in Ghana’s Volta, Oti, Northern, North east and Upper East regions are expected to bounce back following the decision by the Togolese government to reopen their side of the –Ghana –Togo border.

Ghana and Togo concurrently shut their land borders in March 2020 in response to the outbreak of the COVID 19 pandemic to help contain the spread of the pandemic.

That decision after two years has hurt businesses operating in the border towns with many Ghanaians living in border towns, agitating for its reopening.

With both borders now open, Ghanaian Member of Parliament for Ketu South, the largest border town to Togo, Dzifa Gomashie tells WADR, she will seek support to help revive businesses.
