Burkina Faso: Only survivor of 1987 coup recounts the assassination of Sankara

On day 1 of the trial of former Burkina Faso's former president Blaise Compaore who is accused of playing a role in the assassination of his predecessor Thomas Sankara, a former comrade of the pan-African icon Halouné Traoré says he was the only one to survive the 1987 coup where Thomas Sankara was murdered, along with 12 others.

While Halouné Traoré, accepts that the trial will not be able to restore "the dreams for Burkina," he hopes that the trial will unravel the truth about Sankara's assassination.
