The United Nations peacekeeping mission in Mali known by its acronym as MINUSMA says individuals with ulterior motives have regularly encouraged the populations of the town of Aguelhok, in the Kidal region, to leave their homes.
It says since the beginning of May, the individuals have been telling residents to leave on the pretext that their lives would be threatened by the presence of a MINUSMA camp in the locality.
MINUSMA has denied these allegations and says the warnings, which are transmitted on social networks and through other channels, follow the setback suffered by an armed group that attempted to storm the MINUSMA camp in Aguelhok on April 2.
