Children’s book publisher from Ghana, Deborah Ahenkorah, has made it her life’s mission to ensure more diverse representation in children’s literature, a commitment that led to her winning the 2019 Global Pluralism Award – an honour presented by the Global Centre for Pluralism celebrating the extraordinary achievements of organizations, individuals and governments tackling the challenge of living peacefully and productively with diversity.
Her latest project is called Bahiya: The Little Zebra. WADR's Ghana Correspondent Atiewin Mbillah-Lawson has been speaking to Ms. Ahenkorah about the critical need for representation in children’s literature worldwide on book of the week.
