The Special Assize Court of Kayes, Mali has reached a verdict in the assassination case of four anti-slavery activists in the country.
During the trial, several defendants appeared before the court, and seven of them were sentenced to death for their role in the brutal murder, which took place on September 1st, 2020, in the Diandioume a village in the western part of the country.
Another defendant was sentenced to five years in prison, while three were acquitted.
The court’s ruling comes after a special session that began on February 17th, 2023, and will conclude on March 17th, 2023.
