The Malian transitional government has reacted to the newly imposed sanctions by the regional bloc on the Sahelian state.
The Minister of Territorial Administration and Decentralization said Mali deplores the inhuman nature of these measures which
affect populations already severely affected by the
security crisis and the health crisis, in particular, that of COVID-19.
While calling on the populations to be calm, the Government on Sunday said faced with any eventuality of deployment of foreign forces against the country, the Defense and Security Forces should redouble their vigilance and remain mobilized.
The transitional government has since called for solidarity and support from friendly countries and institutions.
On the basis of reciprocity, Mali said it is recalling Ambassadors accredited to ECOWAS member states and will as well close its land and air borders with the concerned states.
