The anti-corruption efforts in Mali, the Central Office for the Fight against Illicit Enrichment OCLEI presented its 2023 report to the transitional president on Friday.
General Assimi Goïta, received the annual report at the Koulouba Palace in a ceremony attended by the Prime Minister, Abdoulaye Maiga, President of the National Transitional Council, and senior government officials.
Among the achievements highlighted in OCEI’s report, are the adoption of the new Constitution and the implementation of the National Anti-Corruption Strategy.
These initiatives aim to modernize public administration through the digitalization of services, thus strengthening transparency and efficiency.
According to the report data, 1,873 asset declarations were recorded, with a processing rate of 95.84%. However, a worrying decline in declarations has been noted over five years, from 629 in 2018 to only 60 in 2023, a decrease of 90.46%.
In response to these findings, Goïta reaffirmed his firm commitment to combating illicit enrichment and all forms of economic and financial delinquency, stating this fight remains a top priority in his government’s Action Program.
