The Malian Armed Forces (FAMa) have announced the successful capture of Ahmad Ag Ditta, a senior leader of the Islamic State in the Sahel (IS-S, formerly known as EIGS).
The operation, carried out near Andéramboukane in the Ménaka region, targeted Ditta, who reportedly held a significant position within the IS-S hierarchy. He played a critical role in coordinating activities among the group’s senior leaders.
Ditta was also responsible for managing the organization’s financial operations, including the transit of external funds and the imposition of taxes on local populations. His capture marks a significant victory for Malian forces in their fight against insurgency in the region.
