Mali’s national conference on political party reforms has ended with sweeping recommendations.
Top among them is the dissolution of all existing political parties and the appointment of General Assimi Goita as President for a renewable five-year term.
The conference was chaired by Prime Minister General Abdoulaye Maiga and included civil society, diaspora representatives, and community leaders.
Observers say the proposals mark a sharp shift from democratic norms and may fuel further political tensions.
