President John Mahama has unveiled the Ghana Medical Care Trust Fund, dubbed Mahama Cares, to aid citizens battling chronic diseases.
The fund will support treatment for conditions such as kidney failure, cancer, and heart disease, easing financial burdens on patients and families.
At the launch event on Tuesday, Mahama called the initiative a “beacon of hope” for those struggling with long-term health issues.
The move has been welcomed by health advocates as a timely step toward improving access to specialized care.
