The lawyer for former Liberian rebel commander is asking for compensation for his client.

This was the conclusion of plea by Alieu Kosiah’s lawyer who said that his client is innocent as he asked prosecutors to drop charges against him.

Alieu Kosiah could face up to 20 years in jail if he is convicted of any of the 25 count charges levelled against him.

He is accused of committing war crimes and crimes against humanity during the first Liberian civil war.

Liberian journalist Anthony Stevens is monitoring proceedings at the Swiss Federal Criminal Court in the city of Bellinzona.
