The Liberian Senate has convicted Public Works Minister Ruth Coker-Collins and her deputies for lying under oath during their appearance before that august body.
Article 44 of the Liberian Constitution says that contempt of the Legislature shall consist of actions that obstruct the legislative functions or obstruct members or officers of the parliament in the discharge of their duties.
Such actions may be punished by a reasonable sanction after a hearing consistent with due process of law.
