Members of Liberia’s Senate Staffers Association have staged a protest over what they describe as unfair disparities in salaries and benefits within the legislature.
On Monday, December 15, staffers began a “go-slow” action, deliberately reducing work pace as the Senate considers the draft national budget recently approved by the House of Representatives.
The protesters are demanding the standardization of the Senate’s salary structure, arguing that current pay levels are low and inconsistent across departments.
Staff representatives warned that the action could continue until their concerns are addressed, raising pressure on lawmakers as budget deliberations progress.
