The Liberia National Police has summoned embattled House Speaker J. Fonati Koffa and several lawmakers in connection with the fire that engulfed the Capitol Building on December 18, 2024.

A communication addressed to Speaker Richard Koon of the majority bloc listed key figures from the minority bloc as persons of interest. Among those invited are Speaker Koffa, Dixon Seboe, Marvin Cole, Frank Foko, Precilla Cooper, Abu Kamara, and Jacob C. Debee.

The investigation aims to uncover the cause of the fire, which has raised concerns over its timing and potential implications for legislative processes. The police have yet to disclose specific findings, but the involvement of key lawmakers underscores the seriousness of the inquiry.

As the probe continues, Liberians await clarity on the fire’s origins and whether it was an accident or involved foul play.
