Authorities in Liberia have announced a suspected case of the Ebola virus in a 26year old lady who arrived in the country from Guinea’s South – Nzerekore a border town and commercial hub – where the disease this week killed three.
The lady had reported to the clinic after feeling unwell immediately she arrived showing malaria-related symptoms and later referred the hospital for further examinations.
Liberia's Health Minister Wilhelmina Jallah said that the specimens had been collected from the woman who is currently in the isolation unit of a leading hospital in the capital, Monrovia.
Dr Jallah said that in view of the symptoms she had shown, the woman was considered a suspected case, but her actual status would only become known after the result of tests.
Sorghor George, the communication consultant for Liberia’s Ministry of Health said, measures are being taken to contain the situation, should the result return positive.
