University lecturers under the Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU has declared today lecture-free day across all government-owned institutions following its lingering loggerhead with the Nigerian government.
National President of the union, Prof. Emmanuel Osodeke hinted at the possibility of impending industrial action in an interview with newsmen over the weekend.
Prof Osodeke said the move became necessary following the government’s failure to honor an agreement the parties entered into in December 2020.
Correspondent Fatimah Ibrahim reports that multiple circulars have been issued by the various branches of the union announcing the decision.
