A delegation of high-ranking officials from the United States has arrived in Liberia to gather further evidence to support additional sanctions against public officials who have been accused of misappropriating public funds. Joining us now is Anderson Miamen, the executive director of the Center for Transparency and Accountability in Liberia.
Last year, the US government imposed sanctions on three senior officials in the George Weah administration, bringing the total number of officials sanctioned under the Global Magnitsky Act to five.
Our guest will help us understand the impact that these sanctions have had on the people of Liberia, and how the Liberian government and civil society organizations can work together to promote transparency and accountability in the management of public funds.
