Gambia’s Minister of Finance and Economic Affairs, Mambury Njie, has denied allegations that his Ministry unilaterally imposed new tax policies on businesses in the country.

His comments come days after the country’s biggest bottling plant, Banjul Breweries, threatened to shut down due to the new tax increase from 10 to 75 per cent.
The company said it has paid nearly one hundred million Dalasi, an equivalent of two million dollars, in the last four months under the new tax system, more than half of what it has paid the whole of last year.
Here’s Minister Njie, speaking at a press conference in Banjul on Monday.
