Education authorities in Ivory Coast have warned public school teachers who are currently on strike in demand of a pay rise and better working conditions to report to work by today or risk serious consequences.

The teachers have been on an-on-and-off strike since November last year over poor learning and teaching conditions in public schools.
Now, the government is warning them to return to work or face administrative sanctions.
Dr. Koussai Johnson is the Secretary General of the Ivoirian Researchers Association.
He spoke to my colleague Adolphus Mawolo more about why teachers are boycotting the classroom.
