The residual special court for Sierra Leone has clarified that former Liberian President Charles Taylor remains in detention.

Mr Taylor is serving a 50-years jail term in a UK prison for his role in Sierra Leone’s brutal civil war which ended sixteen years ago.

The spokesperson of the residual court, Peter Anderson, made the clarification in an interview with WADR on Tuesday.

This comes after rumors circulated on various social media channels saying that the convicted former Liberian leader has been granted an early conditional release.
