Sierra Leone is set to review mining contracts and consider changes to the law that would ensure the country benefits from its natural resources.
The move is in fulfillment of a key campaign promise by new President Julius Maada Bio to the electorate during the just ended election.
Sierra Leone’s extractive industry constitutes more than 80 percent of its exports but generate only 15 percent of its total revenues, according to official figures.
But speaking to WADR on the line from Freetown, the Presidential Spokesman Yusuf Keketoma Sandi said the reform would address the core issues negatively impacting the sector.
