A group of human rights organizations is demanding the immediate and unconditional release of Nigerien human rights defenders Moudi Moussa, Halidou Mounkaila, and Maikoul Zodi.

The organizations making the call include CIVICUS, Amnesty International, Publish What You Pay, Tournos la Page International and Front Line Defenders.

The call comes six months after the rights defenders were jailed in Niger for participating in peaceful protests calling for an investigation into allegations of the misuse of funds by the Ministry of Defense.
