After decades of legal battles, members of the Aggah community, in the oil rich Niger-Delta of Nigeria can begin to nurture hopes of relief, from yearly floods. This is after the community reached an agreement with the Italian company –ENI, which had constructed a factory 50 years ago, leading to the blockage of drainages that used to facilitate the flow of water.

After years of local court cases and advocacy, the community members together with lawyers and advocacy groups took the case to the Italian government, leading to an eventual breakthrough.
