The European Union Special Representative for the Sahel, Emanuela Claudia Del Re says guns are not the solution to insecurity in the Sahel.
This statement is in response to requests by regional governments for more weapons to fight terrorism.
The former Italian deputy minister Del Re, said though weapons are needed in countering radical activities, the practice of good governance is paramount.
The diplomat made these suggestions at the 7th edition of the Dakar international forum for peace and security in Africa.
