In Guinea, Aliou Bah, the opposition leader and president of the Movement for Liberal Democracy (MODEL) party, has been placed under a detention order by the prosecutor of the Kaloum Court of First Instance. He faces charges of insulting the country’s head of state, General Mamady Doumbouya.
Bah’s legal team has criticized the case as politically motivated, accusing the authorities of using it to silence opinion leaders and socio-political actors.
The trial is set to commence on Tuesday at the Conakry 1 court, drawing widespread attention amid growing concerns over political freedoms in Guinea.
