In Guinea, not all elections may take place this year as promised by the transitional president in his December 31, 2024, speech.

Government spokesperson Ousmane Gaoual Diallo announced on Wednesday that ongoing legal proceedings against senior government and army officials for corruption and embezzlement could impact the electoral timeline.

He also addressed cases involving civil society actors and the disappearance of a journalist. The uncertainty surrounding these issues raises concerns about Guinea’s political transition.
