In Ghana, a civil rights group, the People's Project, has sued the National Communications Authority and the Attorney General for blocking unregistered SIM cards.
In a suit filed at the Supreme Court, the group is seeking a declaration that upon a true and proper interpretation of Articles 2(23) and 296 of the 1992 constitution of Ghana, the directive by the Minister for Communication, Ursula Owusu Ekufful, to block all unregistered SIM cards, when the national identification authority has not been able to issue Ghana Cards to all Ghanaians to enable them register is unconstitutional.
The convener of the group, Kwame Asare Obeng, has been speaking to WADR.
