Ghana’s Vice President, Professor Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang, has called for a bold transformation in how African nations finance their development. Speaking at the 2025 Ghana Civil Society Forum, themed “Reimagining Development Financing and Civic Action – Challenges, Opportunities, and the Way Forward,” she emphasized that the era of heavy reliance on foreign aid is nearing its end.
The Vice President advocated for stronger domestic resource mobilization and innovative approaches to funding development. She also revealed that a Non-Profit Bill is in the pipeline to enhance the role of civil society, promote consensus-building, and stimulate greater local investment.
